Since "early" and "late" fork tubes are largely interchangeable between models. many Old Kaws no longer have their original fork tube style..... The easiest way to identify whether your bike has an "early" or "late" fork tube is by the top cap it uses...... On the left, the "early" style fork tube. originally used on the 1973 thru 1977 models, uses an aluminum cap with a 22mm hex top........ On the right, the "late" style fork tube uses a recessed cap with a female 1/2 inch square drive......This is covered by a rubber cap.....Often missing......
